As of the end of October, the amount of Renminbi-denominated bonds purchased by foreign institutions exceeded 40 billion yuan, according to data from the Shanghai branch of the People’s Bank of China. The total amount of bonds held by foreign institutions in the interbank bond market reached 3.24 trillion yuan. This amount represents 2.4% of the total bond custody volume in the interbank bond market.
The data reveals that foreign institutions purchased 40 billion yuan worth of Renminbi-denominated bonds in October, marking the highest level in the past four months. In September, this amount exceeded 20 billion yuan. This indicates that foreign institutions have been buying Renminbi-denominated bonds for two consecutive months.
